The Comité Directeur (Steering Committee) is the real administrative body of Expo.02. As a consequence of the reform process which led to postponement of the national exhibition in 1999, it has taken on many of the competences of the Strategic Committee. These include strategic management, finance, procurement, media relations, the establishing of strategic contacts in industry, politics and culture and the appointment of the members of the Direction Générale (General Management Committee).

The Comité Directeur consists of five members:   

Franz Steinegger, representative of the Confederation (President)
Pierre Dubois, representative of the partner cantons and cities (Vice-President)

Riccardo Gullotti, representative of the national economy
Peter Schmid, representative of the partner cantons and cities
Alois Sonnenmoser, representative of the national economy

Alain Becker is responsible for the work of the General Secretariat of the Assemblée Générale and the Comité Directeur. 

Lauric Barbier is responsible for the Pilotage Stratégique.
