The RABDe 500 (also ICN for InterCity - tilting train) is an SBB electric multiple-unit train with active track curve-controlled tilting technology. The multiple-unit train is authorised for a maximum speed of 200 km/h and is therefore suitable for the new lines being built as part of the Rail 2000 project.
A total of 24 InterCity tilting trains were in service during Expo.02.
Composition
An ICN train consists of 7 individual vehicles, five of which are of different types:
Vehicle 1: Control car (Bt) - 74 2nd class seats and bicycle stands
Vehicle 2: Converter coach (B) - 93 2nd class seats
Vehicle 3: Coach (AD) - 29 1st class seats; luggage compartment; 18 1st class seats (3 business compartments)
Vehicle 4: Coach (A) - 60 1st class seats
Vehicle 5: Coach (WAR) - restaurant 24 seats; 24 1st class seats (4 business compartments)
Vehicle 6: Converter coach (B) - 93 2nd class seats
Vehicle 7: Control car (Bt) - 74 2nd class seats and bicycle parking spaces
Seats: 489 (1st class: 131; 2nd class 334; restaurant 24)
Train length: 188.80 m
Weight: 355 tonnes
Speed: 200 km/h
Cost: CHF 497 million (24 new InterCity trains)

Naming
Each multiple-unit train has its own name. The names are inspired by prominent Swiss personalities, quotes from whom were displayed above the windows in the open-plan compartments.
