Cantonal Days
The Cantonal Days were of particular importance for Expo.02. They served the political institutions as a platform for their own presentation.
The theme of myths/myths and topicality(ies) was the central theme of the Cantonal Days - myths in the sense of collective representations of history, as every community knows and cherishes them. This theme included traditional images of our past as well as new, current and unfamiliar images and perspectives of the future, which were presented in a free and creative way.
Expo.02 did not specify any particular form of cultural or artistic expression, but was open to everything: Dance, song, music, theatre, fairy tales/legends, regional myths, parades, costumes, gastronomy, languages and dialects, art, games, customs, arts and crafts, sport, ...
The cantons were able to show their most diverse sides. This artistic freedom should respect the following criteria:
- Expo.02 is open to all forms of expression.
- The Cantonal Day is not an exhibition, but should allow reflection on the cantonal identity and offer performances and entertainment.
- The Cantonal Day reflects the cultural reality of the canton.
- The cantons are responsible for the content and financing of their day.
- The majority of the Cantonal Day must take place on the Arteplage.
