Participatory campaign

In April 1997, Expo.01 launched a participatory campaign entitled: Invitation to the New Millennium. The deadline for submissions was 31.12.1997.

More than 3'000 project proposals were submitted to Expo.01 between 1997 and 1998.  Of these 3'000 projects, 2'700 were rejected by employees of the Direction Artistique. The remaining 300 were passed on to the jury. Of the 300 jury projects, 70 were recommended for further development.

At Expo.02, five projects were realised based on the original concept and with the original authorship.

Atelier Zérodeux - Arteplage Biel-Bienne
Blindekuh - Arteplage Murten-Morat
Manna - Arteplage Neuchâtel
Panorama of the Battle of Morat - Arteplage Murten-Morat
Swiss Panorama version 2.1 - Arteplage Murten-Morat

Another 10-12 Expo.02 projects originated in the participatory campaign, but were implemented with different authors or fundamental changes to the concept. For example:

Cyberhelvetia.ch - Arteplage Biel-Bienne
Un ange passe - Arteplage Murten-Morat
