Without the important commitment of the Expo.02 cantons and Expo.02 cities, there would have been no Expo.02.

On 21.06.1994, the cantons of Neuchâtel, Bern, Fribourg, Solothurn, Vaud and Jura and the cities of Biel-Bienne, Grenchen, Murten-Morat, Neuchâtel, Solothurn and Yverdon-les-Bains submitted their candidatures. Somewhat later, on 12.12.1994, the canton and city of Solothurn and Grenchen withdrew from the project.
